Many devices and technologies are converging on the newly developed standards of HTML 5 & CSS 3. Whether you're building "future-compatible" websites, ePub 3 format books, or working through the guts of a mobile app, these languages are lurking. Even though HTML 5 is so new, you can use it today—with provision for those browsers and devices that aren't quite ready for it.

This intermediate-level class is a continuation of our level one classes for those of us who want to build with tomorrow's technology today, and still want to have yesterday's browsers display perfectly usable content for our sites' visitors. To do so, we will examine current best practices for using some of the new technologies ("APIs"), testing for feature compatibility and providing fallbacks, and using graphics like SVG.

When you leave the classroom to try the techniques you learned, be sure to have the ability to test in browsers and platforms that you may not own:
